1st & 2nd October 2022
Next stage of our journey, we jumped back on to the #1 Canadian Highway, heading West. Destination Swift Current.
1hr 45mins and we arrived to meet with Rev Nancy Yee, at St Stephen the Martyr, another lovely warm welcome from another wonderful priest, Rev Nancy, offering Interim Ministry, part cover here and at Maple Creek, 2 Sundays at Maple Creek (1st and 2nd) and then 2 at Swift Current (3rd and 4th).
Her energy and spirituality shinning through. A delight to meet and get to know her, she showed us around the church building and service plan, ahead of the 10.30 Eucharist, (Sunday 2nd) at which I was presiding and Rev Sara preaching. This also alerted us to the 'children's talk' slot, at which I took UP the challenge: a google search found me a book for Kindle, and the story of the little mustard seed (aka. UP) was in the bag!!!
You can listen to the service on their unedited audio podcast ( https://www.spreaker.com/user/ststephenthemartyrsc/oct-2nd-2022 )
The rest of Saturday was free time, we drove around Swift Current getting confused because the roads all work on a one way system! To which as an English driver on the righthand side of the road, trying to navigate being on both sides of the road caused some confusion and a few horns, honking!!
Checked in to our hotel for two nights 'Days Inn' and prepared for the Sunday service.
Sunday service went well and we enjoyed the company of about 40 in the congregation (plus 10 children and 10 online)
Sunday morning in England had also been an adventure for my daughter. She completed the London Marathon and we are so very proud of her, it was hard not being with the rest of the family but I was holding them and all the runners in my prayers.
The rest of Sunday was free time.
which included planning the next leg of our journey to Maple creek
and meeting Rev Nancy, and Ed and Carol Bath our hosts for two nights.
